Louisville Defeats Men's Soccer, 2-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – North Carolina and Louisville competed in a close competition on Friday night, but in the final five minutes of the game the Cardinals were able to find the back of the net twice, securing a 2-0 victory over the Tar Heels.
The loss sets UNC's record at 7-5-1 (2-4-0 ACC), while Louisville improves to 9-4 (4-2-0 ACC).
Carolina was unranked in the national polls this week after falling to fellow ACC opponent, Wake Forest, last Friday night, 2-1.
North Carolina was outshot for the first time this season with only nine shots on the night.
Alec Smir recorded five saves on the night, but allowed two goals in the final five minutes.
For the majority of the second half, UNC was playing down a man after Tim Schels was issued a red card in the 58th minute.
Despite playing with only 10 men for over 30 minutes, the North Carolina defense was able to fend off seven shots on goal (12 total) to hold Louisville scoreless.
The Tar Heels and Cardinals both had chances, but neither team was able to finish until the 87th minute when Aboubacar Camara scored his first of two goals on the night.
Santiago Herrera, Tega Ikoba and Ken Bellini each recorded two shots tonight, but were unable to close on a scoring opportunity.
The Tar Heels return home for their next match-up against No. 4 Loyola Marymount. The game will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill.
