The Tar Heels honoed some of their impactfuly professors at halftime of Tuesday's win over N.C. A&T.

Tar Heels Honor Faculty at Home Opener

On Tuesday at Carmichael Arena, the UNC women's basketball program had the privilege of honoring several faculty and staff members who have made a particular impact on one or more of the team's current student-athletes.
The season-opening matchup with North Carolina A&T was designated as Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day, and each Tar Heel player and manager was able to invite someone to be honored at halftime.
Those recognized at halftime were:
Neal Caren, Associate Professor of Sociology
John Gallemore, Associate Professor of Accounting
Camelia Kuhnen, Professor of Finance
Dick Blackburn, Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior
Zachary Kerr, Assistant Professor, Exercise and Sport Science
Minne Chen , Doctoral Student in the Department of Sociology
Emily Sferra, Graduate Teaching Fellow, English Department
Joshua Beaver, Teaching Assistant Professor
Will Lassiter, Teaching Assistant Professor of Statistics and Operations Research
Several of the invitees were not able to attend, but were recognized:
Yang Claire Yang, Professor of Sociology
Todd Cherner, Director of the Master of Arts in Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship Program
Kristopher Keller, Assistant Professor of Marketing
Nur Sunar, Associate Professor of Operations
Abby Newell, Doctoral Candidate, Sociology
Mahka Moeen, Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship
The Tar Heels rolled to a 92-47 victory to open the season, with five players scoring in double figures. UNC's next home game is on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. against Appalachian State. In the meantime, the Tar Heels play their first road game on Sunday at Charlotte.
