CHAPEL HILL—The University of North Carolina men's basketball team will tip off the 2021-22 season on Friday night with an exhibition game at 7:30 p.m. against in-state, CIAA foe Elizabeth City State.
ACC Network Extra will stream the game live, and tickets are still available.
THE OPPONENT
Elizabeth City State was picked to finish eighth in the 12-team Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) this season by the conference's coaches. The Vikings are led by first-team preseason All-CIAAÂ guard Zach Hobbs, a 5-11 graduate student.
In its exhibition opener on Tuesday night at NC State, Hobbs led ECSU in scoring with 14 points, assists with three and tied for the team rebounding lead with five in an 87-68 Wolfpack win. The Vikings out-rebounded NCSU, 38-35, and out-shot the 'Pack from the floor, 45.5 percent to 44.1 percent, but committed 27 turnovers as a team.
