Tar Heels End Regular Season Slate Versus Virginia

CHAPEL HILL - No. 14 North Carolina wraps up its dual meet season and ACC competition on Saturday when it hosts No. 21 Virginia in Carmichael Arena. The match is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. There will be no general fan attendance.

UNC (4-2, 2-2 ACC) enters Saturday following a two-win road trip to Pennsylvania last weekend. The Tar Heels knocked off No. 15 Pittsburgh and No. 25 Lehigh, setting up the final regular season match of the year. The Tar Heels have nine wrestlers in the first edition of the NCAA Coaches Rankings, released Thursday by the NCAA. No. 2 Austin O'Connor leads the way at 149 pounds, while No. 8 Jaime Hernandez (133), No. 9 Zach Sherman (141) and No. 10 Kennedy Monday also earned top-10 spots.

Virginia (3-2, 2-2 ACC) defeated Duke last weekend at home, a 42-3 performance. It also defeated No. 16 Pittsburgh in January, 17-16. Coach Steve Garland's team has eight wrestlers in the NCAA Coaches Rankings, led by No. 7 Louie Hayes (133) and No. 10 Jay Aiello (197).

Carolina narrowly defeated Virginia in Charlottesville last season in a match that came down to the final bout of the dual, a win from Hernandez at 133 pounds.
