Kelly Earns ACC Freshman Honors

UNC's Deja Kelly has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday. Kelly, a 5-8 guard from San Antonio, Texas, averaged 16.5 points over the Tar Heels' two road games last week.
At Clemson on Thursday, Kelly scored 19 points in UNC's 77-64 win over the Tigers. Her total included 7-for-7 shooting from the foul line, and she added three assists and two steals.
At NC State on Sunday, Kelly led four Carolina scorers in double figures with a team-high 14 points in the 82-63 loss to the Wolfpack. Twelve of her points came in the second half and she also had two assists and a steal.
For the week Kelly shot .423 from the field, .375 from three and .889 from the foul line.
NC State's Jakia Brown Turner was honored as the ACC Player of the Week.
Kelly is averaging 9.8 points per game this season for the Tar Heels (11-9 overall, 6-9 ACC), who host Georgia Tech Thursday for the final home game of the season.
