Blue Takes A Big Win On Sunday

Chapel Hill, NC --Â Starter Caleb Cozart threw five scoreless innings and Justice Thompson belted two home runs to lead the Blue squad to an 11-3 win over Navy on Sunday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
Blue got on the board first when Angel Zarate scored on an error before Justice Thompson hit a solo home run to left. Blue picked up another run in the third on a Zarate sacrifice fly. Thompson hit his second home run in two at bats with a solo shot to left center in the third for a 4-0 lead.Â
Blue took an 8-0 lead with a four-run fourth inning. Danny Serretti drove in a run with a single before Thompson's single to left drove in two more runs. Thompson would then score from third when a runner attempted to steal second.
Navy finally got on the board with a three-run sixth. Brandon Eike scored on a wild pitch followed by Hunter Stokely's two-run single to left.
Blue countered with three runs in the seventh and final inning. Tomas Frick drove in a run with a long single to right. Frick would later score on a wild pitch before Mikey Madej's single drove in the final run of the scrimmage.
Justice Thompson was 3-4 with two solo homers and an RBI single. His only out came when he was robbed of extra bases by a great catch by Max Troiani in deep left center. Caleb Roberts was 3-4 with a double for Blue. Johnny Castagnozzi had a triple for the only other extra base hit. Tyler Causey was 3-3 at the plate to lead Navy.
Caleb Cozart threw 5.0 scoreless innings, giving up four hits while striking out three batters. Cannon Pickell and Nick James threw in relief for Blue. Will Sandy, Michael Oh and Kyle Mott threw for Navy.
Carolina will hold its next scrimmage on Monday.
