GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina sits in 12th place after two days of the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships from the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The Tar Heels have compiled 61 points thus far as a team, and are only four points outside the top-10. Virginia and NC State are currently 1-2 in the team standings with 184 and 124 points, respectively.

The first event of Thursday's finals saw Carolina's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Grace Countie, Heidi Lowe, Sophie Lindner and Amy Dragelin earn All-America status by finishing seventh with a season-best time of 1:28.08.

Countie added a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.60 to grab All-America honors for the second time on the night. Her time in the finals makes her the second fastest swimmer ever at Carolina in the 50 freestyle, trailing only Caroline Baldwin's 21.48 set in 2018.

In the 1-meter diving event, freshman Aranza Vazquez reached the NCAA finals and finished second with a career best effort of 348.45 points that broke her own school record set earlier this season.

Vazquez led after the first of six rounds of diving, and held second place for nearly the entirety of the final competition.

Additionally, junior Emily Grund placed 18th with a score of 277.15.

The evening wrapped up with the 400-yard medley relay. Carolina won the first of five timed heat with a time of 3:32.49, a season best clocking that was swam by the quartet of Countie, Lilly Higgs, Lindner and Lowe. The 14th place finish equates to All-America honorable mention honors.

Friday's action gets underway with preliminary action at 10 a.m. with the finals set for 6 p.m. Lindner will compete in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, Lilly Higgs in the 100 breaststroke, Countie in the 100 back and both Grund and Vazquez in the 3-meter diving event. Carolina will also compete in the 200 medley relay.
