UNC Sends Eight To NCAA Women's Swim/Dive Championships

CHAPEL HILL — The 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships gets underway this week for the 18th-ranked Tar Heels, who will send a total of eight student-athletes to the competition.
The championships will be held March 17-20 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
North Carolina is ranked in the top 20 in four swimming events. Junior Grace Countie leads the way with a No. 10 seed in the 100 backstroke and ranks No. 20 in the 50 freestyle. Junior Sophie Lindner is ranked No. 14 in the 200 backstroke and 19th in the 100 back.
Junior Lilly Higgs sits 29th in the 100 breast, sophomore Ellie Vannnote is 38th in the 200 butterfly and Lindner ranks No. 39 in the 100 fly.
Additionally, sophomore Amy Dragelin and junior Heidi Lowe will compete as relay swimmers. The Tar Heels have qualified for the 200- and 400-yard freestyle and 200- and 400-yard medley relay events.
Carolina has a pair of standout divers competing this weekend in the Gate City. Junior Emily Grund and freshman Aranza Vazquez are scheduled to participate in all three events, the 1- and 3-meter and platform.
How to Watch
Live championship coverage will air on ESPN3 for preliminary and finals sessions Wednesday through Saturday. ESPNU will air a two-hour show at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 6.
