Top Storylines
• North Carolina enters the weekend on a four-game skid, suffering a series sweep against NC State and an 11-10 loss at No. 11 ECU on Tuesday. It was the first time since 1991 that UNC was swept at home by the Wolfpack.Â
• Danny Serretti's bat has come alive as of late. Over his last 14 games, he is slashing .281/.339/.667 with five home runs, three doubles, and a pair of triples.Â
• The Tar Heels lead the ACC in home runs with 32. Carolina hit four home runs at ECU on Tuesday, which was the most since hitting four against VMI on March 11, 2020, the Tar Heels' final game of the season. Florida State ranks second in the league with 31.
• Caleb Roberts paced UNC offensively against the Pirates on Tuesday, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, two walks and three RBIs. With his fourth career three-hit effort, the redshirt sophomore extended his career-best hitting streak to seven games, during which he's 12-for-26.
• Johnny Castagnozzi is getting more comfortable at the plate as of late, going 6-for-17 with six RBIs in his last six games.
• Hunter Stokely has seen action in the Tar Heels' last four games and has recorded two home runs and a double in his last 13 at-bats.
• In addition to starting every game in center field, Justice Thompson ranks seventh in the ACC in hits (30).Â
• The Tar Heels have stayed patient at the play throughout the entire season, recording 101 walks as a team. The figure ranks fifth in the ACC and 67th in the country.
• Scott Forbes took the reigns from Mike Fox on Aug. 7, 2020, who wrapped up a legendary 22-year career at Carolina. He becomes just the fifth head coach of the Tar Heel baseball program since 1931.
