Top Storylines
• North Carolina enters the weekend series after winning its fourth ACC series of the series which included a 21-6 rout on Monday. The 21 runs were their most since scoring 21 in a win over Virginia Tech on April 12, 2013. They were also tied for their most against Duke since Mike Fox's first season as head coach in 1999.
• Brett Centracchio hit two home runs in the fifth inning against Duke on Monday, making him the first Tar Heel to hit two homers in an inning since Chris Maples did so on March 23, 2002, against Florida State.
• The Tar Heels rank second in the ACC and 16th in the country in home runs with 40.Â
• In Angel Zarate's absence due to COVID-19 protocol, Dallas Tessar stepped up over the weekend. The senior went 5-for-11 with a home run and four RBI.Â
• Danny Serretti put together an impressive weekend against Duke, going 7-for-13 with five doubles, a homer and six RBIs.
• UNC junior Joey Lancellotti will miss the rest of the 2021 baseball season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last week. Lancellotti made four appearances for the Tar Heels this season with an ERA of 2.45.
• Connor Ollio will be making his first start of the year and ninth of his career on Saturday. In his career, has 36 appearances and thrown 65 innings (4.15 ERA, 62 H, 37 R, 30 ER, 23 BB, 66 SO).
• Freshman Colby Wilkerson shined in the later part of the series, as went 6-for-9 with three doubles and four runs scored in games two and three.
• Scott Forbes is the only first-year head coach among Power 5 conference programs in 2021.
• Scott Forbes took the reigns from Mike Fox on Aug. 7, 2020, who wrapped up a legendary 22-year career at Carolina. He becomes just the fifth head coach of the Tar Heel baseball program since 1931.
