Long Ball Leads Blue In Tuesday's Scrimmage

Chapel Hill, NC -- Â The Blue squad blasted three home runs to lead them to a 5-0 win over Navy on Tuesday afternoon in a seven-inning scrimmage at a hot and muggy Boshamer Stadium.
Mac Horvath drilled a solo homer to left in the bottom of the first inning. Patrick Alvarez drove in Blue's second run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Blue capped of their scoring with three runs in the seventh. Tyler Causey hit a solo shot to right before Patrick Alvarez hit a two-run homer to left.
Mac Horvath, Tyler Causey, Tomas Frick, Max Reimer and Patrick Alvarez each went 2-3 at the plate for Blue, with Alvarez driving in three runs. Reimer's fifth-inning double was the scrimmage's only other extra base hit. Hunter Stokely was 2-3 at bat to lead Navy.
A total of fourteen pitchers threw one inning apiece. Brandon Schaeffer, Shaddon Peavyhouse, Will Sandy, Nik Pry, Kyle Mott, Connor Ollio and Tanner Quck threw for Blue. Connor Bovair, Shawn Rapp, Caden O'Brien, Davis Palermo, Gage Gillian, Alden Segui and Caleb Cozart threw for Navy.
Kyle Mott and Connor Ollio struck out two men apiece for Blue. Caden O'Brien struck out three men for Navy while Davis Palermo fanned two batters.
The Tar Heels will host Walters State on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 1:30 p.m. at Boshamer Stadium before hosting Vanderbilt on Friday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m.
