Field Hockey Set For Regular-Season Finale At Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina will wrap up the 2022 field hockey regular season Saturday afternoon just down the road in Durham, taking on Duke for a noon Atlantic Coast Conference game. The matchup, set for Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium, will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
Top-ranked UNC comes into the matchup at 14-0 overall and 5-0 in league play. While they've already locked up the top seed in the upcoming ACC Championship, which also will be played at Duke, a win by the Tar Heels would give them an undefeated regular season and an outright claim to the ACC regular-season title.
The teams scrimmaged in Durham during the preseason, but this is the first in-season matchup on Duke's home turf since the 2020 season, when the Tar Heels won 4-0 on Oct. 4, 2020. The three meetings since then have all been in Chapel Hill, with two going into overtime.
Carolina is ready for a challenge on Saturday. "It's always tough to win on the road," UNC coach Karen Shelton said. "With a Saturday game, we have an extra day of preparation this week so we're going to use that to the best of our ability.
"It's Duke-Carolina and they always play us tough. We've played a lot of great games and we have great deal of respect for their program and staff and team. It should be a fun game."
