PORTLAND, Ore. – The No. 8 North Carolina women's basketball team will face off against another ranked team for the first time this season on Thursday, taking on No. 18 Oregon in the Phil Knight Invitational. The Tar Heels and Ducks face off at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT at the Chiles Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
Both teams are 4-0 on the season heading into the Thanksgiving Day matchup.
UNC and Oregon have met just twice before, with the most recent time in the 2015-16 season. They face off in the first of the PKI semifinal games, with No. 5 Iowa State and Michigan State meeting in the second. Thursday's results will determine Sunday's matchups for the championship and third-place games.
After flying to Portland on Tuesday, the Tar Heels practiced at the Chiles Center on Wednesday morning and are set to visit the Nike campus in the afternoon. A reception for all of the participating teams, including those in the men's fields, is set for Wednesday evening.
The UNC men are also playing in Portland this weekend. With the Tar Heels atop the men's Associated Press poll, Carolina is the only school with both of its basketball teams ranked in the AP top 10.
