Softball Falls to No. 19 Michigan, 8-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina softball (9-7) team fell to No. 19 Michigan (10-5) on Tuesday night 8-0 in five innings at Anderson Stadium.
Sophomore Skyler Brooks had the sole two hits for the Tar Heels on the night, while Carolina committed a season-high three fielding errors.
Freshman Lilli Backes (2-4) was on the hook for the loss in the circle, throwing 4.2 innings, allowing seven earned runs and striking out five batters.
After a scoreless first inning, the Wolverines plated four runs on three hits with three Carolina errors in the second, going up 4-0. Michigan added to its lead in the top of the fifth, plating another four runs on four hits, including two home runs.
The Tar Heels return to Anderson Field tomorrow night at 5 p.m. to host Villanova. Admission is free.
