March 15, 2022 | Women's Tennis
CHAPEL HILL - The North Carolina women's tennis program has announced that Reese Brantmeier, the top rated player in the Class of 2022, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Tar Heels.
"We always recruit the best players in the country, and we feel we've once again done that with the addition of Reese Brantmeier and her family to our program," said UNC head coach Brian Kalbas. "She's humble, she's unselfish and a better person than she is a player and that speaks volumes because of just how talented of a tennis player she has become."
Brantmeier, a native of Whitewater, Wisconsin, is a blue chip recruit and the No. 1 ranked player in the class according to tennisrecruiting.net. She has competed on the world's biggest stages, including at the US Open Women's Singles in 2019 and 2021, and mixed doubles in 2021.
Brantmeier currently owns a career high world ranking of 525 in singles and 539 in doubles according to the WTA, and was No. 27 in the ITF junior rankings as recently as January 2022.
She participated in three Grand Slam junior events in 2021 at the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open. Brantmeier was a doubles finalist at the US Open and advanced to the third round of singles and the semifinals of doubles at Wimbledon.
She reached the finals of the 2021 USTA Billie Jean King Girls 18s National Championship, the same event she won two years prior for the 16s national title. Additionally, Brantmeier received the USTA Sportsmanship award for 2021.
Other titles include the 2019 WTA Future Stars in Shenzhen, China, and the 2020 Orange Bowl Girls Doubles Championship.
Brantmeier is the daughter of Scott and Becky Brantmeier, and has two older brothers, Justin and Zach.
