Softball Falls to No. 6 Virginia Tech, 10-0

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Carolina softball team fell on the road to No. 6 Virginia Tech 10-0 in five innings on Friday night. The Tar Heels were only able to record two hits in the loss, with Virginia Tech pitcher Keely Rochard finishing the outing with 12 strikeouts.
Freshman Lilli Backes (4-8) took the loss in the circle, allowing five earned runs and striking out two Hokies.
Skyler Brooks and Destiny Middleton each had a base hit, while Taylor Greene drew Carolina's sole walk of the day.
The Tar Heels will look to bounce back in game two of the series on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Tech Softball Park.
