Softball Swept by No. 6 Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Carolina softball team (16-13, 2-4 ACC) dropped its series finale at No. 6 Virginia Tech on Sunday, falling 9-1 to the Hokies in five innings.
Freshman pitcher Lilli Backes was on the hook for the loss in the circle, allowing five earned runs in an inning of work with a strikeout. Carlie Myrtle and Talia Hannappel combined to pitch the last four innings.
Carolina's two hits both came off the bat of Taylor Greene, who went 2-of-2 from the plate, hitting two doubles.
Up next, the Tar Heels travel to Longwood for a 6 p.m. Wednesday midweek matchup.
