Softball Earns 8-4 Victory Over App State

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina softball team earned an 8-4 midweek victory over App State on Wednesday afternoon in Anderson Stadium. Sara Jubas went a perfect 2-of-2 from the plate with two RBIs, while Taylor Greene hit her fifth home run of the season.
In the circle, Hannah George improved to 10-2, throwing five innings, allowing two earned runs, three hits with three strikeouts.
Talia Hannappel threw two innings of relief, allowing four hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts.
Redshirt junior Abby Settlemyre made her first plate appearance since March 11, 2020, hitting a single down the left field line.
With the victory, the Tar Heels improve to 11-0 at home in the all-time series against the Mountaineers.

- After a scoreless first and second inning, App State took a 2-0 lead after two solo home runs, one in the top of the third and one in the top of the fourth
- Taylor Greene tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run home run to left field
- Alex Brown gave Carolina the lead with an RBI single to make it 3-2 after four innings
- Back-to-back RBIs from Sara Jubas and Kiannah Jones in the bottom of the fifth gave the Tar Heels a 5-2 advantage
- Carolina plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth, with RBIs from Bri Stubbs, Jubas and Kiersten Licea
- The Mountaineers plated two runs on two hits in the top of the seventh to make the final score 8-4
