CHAPEL HILL - Chris Gray scored the game-winner and led the team with six points as the North Carolina men's lacrosse team (8-4, 1-3 ACC) earned the crucial 14-13 win over Syracuse (4-8, 1-3 ACC).

How it Happened

Syracuse's Jacob Buttermore quickly scored after 45 seconds of play to give the Orange the early lead.
The Tar Heels would then reel off five straight goals to take a 5-1 lead into the second quarter.
Two late first-half goals by the Orange would trim the Tar Heel lead to one going into halftime.
UNC would come out of the break hot, scoring four straight goals to extend their lead to 10-5.
Syracuse would respond as three goals would trim the lead back down to two heading into the final quarter.
The Orange would surge late and score four straight goals to take the lead with two minutes to go in the game.
Lance Tillman would tie the game at 13 before Chris Gray played the hero and scored the game-winner with 15 seconds left to seal the victory.

Tar Heel Performances

Chris Gray led the team with five goals and one assist. It is the 12th time in his career that he has scored five or more goals in a game.
Nicky Solomon scored three goals to earn his third hat trick of the season.
Lance Tillman and Dewey Egan would notch two goals. Tillman would also tie his career-high in assists with three.
Jacob Kelly would dish out a team-high four assists.
Cole Herbert and Alex Breschi would add one goal.
The foursome of Zac Tucci, Andrew Tyeryar, Graham Schwartz, and Ryan O'Connell went a combined 12-30 at the face-off.
Collin Krieg played great in the cage, making 18 saves with a .581 save percentage. He also collected a career-high five ground balls.
