Softball Finishes Home Schedule With 8-0 Victory Over NCCU

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina softball team earned their third run-rule victory of the season on Wednesday night, defeating NCCU 8-0 in the 2022 home season finale.
Freshman Carlie Myrtle earned her third win of the season in the circle, allowing just one hit in five innings with six strikeouts.
Skyler Brooks went a team-best 2-of-3 at the plate with an RBI, while Kianna Jones had two RBIs against the Eagles.
The Tar Heels got on the board early, plating six runs on five hits and an error in the top of the first, with Bri Stubbs, Kiannah Pierce, Brooks and Jones all recording hits in the inning, while Taylor Greene and Sara Jubas each drew a walk.
Carolina (23-22, 6-12 ACC) went up 7-0 in the bottom of the fourth with Stubbs reaching home on a Greene double to right field.
Annie Kate Dalton sealed the victory in the bottom of the fifth with her first hit at Anderson Field, hitting a single that scored Jubas.
Dalton (catcher) and Chloe Gary (pinch runner) also made their first field appearances of the season in the win.
