Softball Drops Notre Dame Series Finale, 4-3

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -Â The Carolina softball team fell to No. 24 Notre Dame, 4-3, in the final game of the weekend series. The Tar Heels went 0-3 against the Irish.

Destiny Middleton went a team-best 3-of-3 on the day at the plate, finishing the weekend with five hits.Â
Â
The Tar Heels (23-25, 6-15 ACC) got on the board first in the third, scoring on a Notre Dame fielding error.
Â
The Irish (35-9, 13-5 ACC) tied it up in the fourth on an RBI single, before taking a 3-1 lead in the fifth on a fielding error followed by an RBI double.
Â
Senior Taylor Greene tied it back up in the top of the sixth, hitting a two-run home run to left field, her eighth long ball of the season, to make it a 3-3 game.
Â
Notre Dame was able to load the bases in the bottom of the seventh before drawing a walk to take the victory.
Â
Hannah George (10-8) took the loss in the circle, allowing five hits and one earned run in an inning and a third of work.

Carolina is off until May 6 when they travel to Syracuse, N.Y., for a three-game series.
