Ezeudu Selected In Third Round By N.Y. Giants
April 29, 2022 | Football
LAS VEGAS - University of North Carolina offensive lineman Joshua Ezeudu has been selected in the third round with the 67th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.Â
Ezeudu becomes the 245th Tar Heel chosen in the NFL Draft and the 20th offensive guard. He is also the 28th Carolina Football player selected in the third round and the 13th chosen by the New York Giants.
"This is one of those days I'll remember for the rest of my life," said Ezeudu. "I have the chance to make a living playing football, while being able to give back to my family for everything they've been through to get me to this point. I couldn't have done it without their help, along with so many others including my coaches, the staff members, and especially my teammates. I want to thank the New York Giants for giving me this opportunity, and I'm going to work as hard as I can to make a difference for them."
"Joshua Ezeudu is one of the most versatile linemen I've been fortunate to coach over my career," said UNC head coach Mack Brown. "He's very athletic for his size and you could tell he really loves playing the game, which I'm sure translated to the teams he visited with. Josh could play any of the four positions outside of center and we wouldn't skip a beat. That versatility combined with his natural ability should serve him well as he transitions to the NFL with the Giants."
Â
A product of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Ezeudu started 28 of 35 career games played over his three seasons for the Tar Heels. He earned All-ACC Honorable Mention honors as a junior in 2021 after blocking for an offense that averaged 35.2 points (3rd ACC) and 468.2 total yards per game (10th NCAA/4th ACC).
Ezeudu was a third team All-ACC selection and an AP All-ACC Second Team selection as a sophomore in 2020. He helped the Carolina offense average a school record 537.3 total yards per game (5th NCAA/1st ACC) and 41.7 points per game (9th NCAA/2nd ACC).
