Softball Drops Series Finale To No. 18 Clemson

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina softball team (19-17, 4-8 ACC) dropped its series finale at home against No. 18 Clemson on Sunday, falling 12-4 to the Tigers in five innings. Clemson (25-10) took all three games of the series.
Freshman pitcher Lilli Backes (6-11) took the loss in the circle, allowing five earned runs in just over an inning of work with a strikeout. Hannah George pitched 3.1 innings, allowing seven earned runs with a strikeout while Talia Hannappel finished out the game.
Bri Stubbs went 3-of-3 at the plate, matching her career-best, with an RBI and a double for her eighth multi-hit game of the season. Taylor Greene also had a good day offensively, with two base hits.
Stubbs finished the three-game series batting a team-best .556, going 5-of-9 with two RBIs and a double.
Up next, the Tar Heels travel to Charlotte for a Wednesday midweek matchup before traveling to Louisville for a three-game weekend series.
