Knower Claims WCGA Region Six Gymnast of the Year Honor

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Freshman Julia Knower has been named the 2022 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Region Six Gymnast of the Year, the WCGA announced on Thursday.
Knower is one of three freshmen claiming a region gymnast of the year honor. The Mandeville, La., native, competed in the all-around in every meet in her first season at Carolina.

- Earned four all-around titles, three beam titles, two vault titles and one floor title for 10 total event titles
- Named to First team All-EAGL on beam and in the all-around, Second team on bars and vault
- Named to First team All-EAGL Tournament on floor and in the all-around, Second team on bars
- Posted eight scores of 9.90 or better
- Finished the season ranked No. 6 on beam in the EAGL, with five scores of 9.90 or better
- Capped off the regular season with three straight all-around titles
- Three-time EAGL Rookie of the Week
- Set a new career-best of 39.400 in the all-around in the final meet of the regular season at No. 24 Georgia
- Clinched Carolina's 196-195.975 win over Towson on Jan. 28, earning a 9.90 on floor in the final routine of the meet
- Qualified as an individual in the all-around to the NCAA Raleigh Regionals
