Rowing Prepares For ACC Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. – The North Carolina women's rowing team is set to compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship regatta on Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, on Lake Hartwell.

The 2022 Championship will consist of the 1V8, 2V8, 3V8, 1V4, and 2V4, with each school allowed to enter one boat in each event. The prelim races will take place on Friday, with the final races on Saturday.
The event features three teams currently ranked in the CRCA/USRowing Pocock Division I Coaches Poll, with Syracuse claiming the No. 11 ranking, Duke at No. 14, and Virginia coming in at No. 16.

"We have been looking forward to ACCs all year, and it's unbelievable how quickly it has arrived," said head coach Erin Neppel. "We have prepared and practiced well, and the team is excited to get this show on the road. A lot has happened in the last 10 months, and we will find out where we stand."
Last Time Out
The North Carolina women's rowing team finished strong in the third and final round of the Lake Wheeler Invitational.
The 3V8 crew for UNC kicked off the day with a fifth-place finish. In the 2V4 race, the Tar Heels edged Kansas by four seconds to take fourth place. The 1V4 battled hard throughout the race but dropped to fifth place.
As noon approached, the varsity eight boats took to the water for intense competition. The 2V8 crew closed the gap the last 1000 meters but fell behind Kansas by three seconds to finish fifth. With a strong effort in the day's final race, the 1V8 boat chased down Kansas to narrowly take fourth by a margin under a second.
