Volleyball Hosts Blue/White Scrimmage, High Point Exhibition

CHAPEL HILL – Fans will get their first opportunity to see the 2022 Carolina volleyball team in action as the Tar Heels host two preseason matches in Carmichael Arena on August 19 and 20.
Carolina opens the weekend with the annual Blue and White scrimmage Friday at 5 p.m, followed by a 1 p.m. exhibition against High Point on Saturday afternoon. Admission is free for both matches.
The Tar Heels, who have been practicing since August 9, started off the season with a two-day leadership training before getting back into the gym, integrating eight newcomers into the team culture.
This year's roster features 19 student-athletes, including seven freshmen and a graduate transfer.
The eight new faces:
Entering the 2022 season, Carolina is receiving votes in the AVCA Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll for the first time since the 2017 campaign.
The Tar Heels will officially kick off the 2022 regular season on Aug. 26 against Colorado State in Fort Collins.

- Charley Niego, a graduate transfer outside hitter from Notre Dame, who will wear No. 5
- Sadie Swift, a freshman middle hitter from Austin, Texas, who will wear No. 7
- Anita Babic, a freshman setter from Phoenix, Ariz., who will wear No. 12
- Ava Swain, an early enrollee freshman outside hitter from Odessa, Fla., who will wear No. 16
- Liv Mogridge, a freshman middle hitter from Lutz, Fla., who will wear No. 18
- Maddy May, a freshman libero/defensive specialist from Winterville, N.C., who will wear No. 25
- Ella Bostic, a freshman setter from Carmel, Ind., who will wear No. 34
- Cadence Shea, a freshman outside/right side hitter from Westlake Ohio, who will wear No. 36
