Ustby Selected To Represent The U.S. In Romania
September 7, 2022 | Women's Basketball
North Carolina junior Alyssa Ustby has been selected to represent the U.S. at the 2022 FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League Final later this month, USA Basketball announced on Wednesday. Ustby is one of four women's players selected for the tournament, which runs Sept. 14-16 in Constanta, Romania.
Ustby was part of the six-player squad that represented the U.S. at the Nations League Americas Tournament in the Dominican Republic in August. There, the U.S. swept the competition, going 18-0 and winning all six stops to advance to the Nations League Final in Romania.
Joining Ustby on the U.S. roster are Aaliyah Moore (Texas), Maddy Siegrist (Villanova) and Maddy Westbeld (Notre Dame).
"We are so enormously proud that Alyssa will, again, be representing the Carolina blue while wearing the red, white, and blue," UNC women's basketball coach Courtney Banghart said. "She is such a gifted talent and relentless competitor, and the international stage is quickly learning what she can do. Alyssa's play last month in the Dominican Republic has earned this next opportunity in Romania and our whole team is behind her as she goes for gold."
Ustby made her USA Basketball debut in the Dominican Republic.
Launched in 2017, the FIBA 3x3 Nations League is a 3x3 competition for men and women under the age of 23. It offers an opportunity for future talents to hone their skills in preparation for the open category (FIBA 3x3 World Cup, Olympic Games, etc.).
