CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina gymnastics head coach Danna Durante has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2024 season, which includes five home meets at Carmichael Arena.Â
2024 will mark UNC's first year competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference, as gymnastics became the league's 28th sponsored sport at the start of the academic year.
Season tickets can be purchased here. Fans are also encouraged to fill out a ticket interest form here. Â
Fans will get their first look at the team on Dec. 3 for the annual Blue and White Intrasquad inside Carmichael Arena. The fun, spirited meet will be free of charge.Â
The Tar Heels officially kick off the new season at home on Jan. 5 for a quad meet with Ball State, Rutgers and Utah State. The team then hits the road for its first away competition a week later on Jan. 12 for the ESPN Event in West Valley, Utah, with opponent(s) announced soon.
ACC action will officially commence with back-to-back home meets for the Tar Heels. All conference meets will feature a home-and-away series.Â
North Carolina is set to host NC State for an in-state matchup at Carmichael Arena on Jan. 19 before welcoming Clemson to Chapel Hill on Jan. 26, the first meeting between the two teams in the Tigers' inaugural season.
Carolina then packs its bags for its second road trip, this time to face another former East Atlantic Gymnastics foe in Pitt on Feb. 2 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Tar Heels and Wolfpack meet once again on Feb. 11, this time in Raleigh.Â
The Panthers will then make their way to Chapel Hill on Feb. 16 for another key ACC contest before the Tar Heels head to Clemson, South Carolina, on Feb. 23 to take on the Tigers for the final conference meet of the regular season. UNC then heads west on March 3 to Lincoln, Nebraska, for a meet against the Huskers.Â
The final two meets before postseason features a pair of Southeastern Conference opponents. Kentucky, which finished sixth on the national stage a year ago, pays a visit to Carmichael Arena on March 8 for UNC's final home meet of the year. Carolina takes on 2023 NCAA Championship fourth-place finisher LSU on March 15 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to conclude the regular season.
Postseason competition is slated for March 23 with the ACC Championships being held in nearby Greensboro, North Carolina. NCAA Regionals are scheduled for April 3-7 at various locations and the NCAA Championship is set for April 18-20 in Fort Worth, Texas.
TV selections will be announced at a later date. Times are subject to change.
