Three Tar Heels Named To All-South Region Teams

KANSAS CITY MO. – The North Carolina men's soccer trio of Quenzi Huerman (First Team), Riley Thomas (Second Team) and Sam Williams (Third Team) collected United Soccer Coaches All-South Region honors.
In his graduate season in Chapel Hill, Huerman appeared and started in 20 matches this fall for Carolina. The Vannes, France native was tied for a team-leading 10 goals, while pacing the Tar Heels with a team best seven assists and 27 points.
Huerman finished the season ranking atop the best players in the Atlantic Coast Conference and nationally, ranking third in the ACC in goals (10), points (27) and points per game (1.35/game).
Named to the All-ACC Second Team last month, Thomas appeared in 18 matches this fall, earning the start 17 times. The Atlanta, Ga. native logged 1,965 minutes, playing the full 90 on 13 occasions. Thomas helped anchor a Carolina defense that ranked second in the ACC in goals allowed (15) and goals allowed average (0.67/game).
A 2023 ACC Preseason Watchlist and Third Team All-ACC honoree, Williams started all 22 matches this fall for the Tar Heels. A consistent force for Carolina, the Tenafly, N.J. product finished the year with 1,965 minutes of game action, good for third on the team.
The trio played a key part in the Tar Heel success this season, helping Carolina earn the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, appearing in the NCAA quarterfinals for the 14th time in program history.
