Kelly, Ustby Earn WBCA All-America Region 1 Honors

Tar Heel juniors Deja Kelly and Alyssa Ustby have been selected as Region Finalists for WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America honors, as announced Wednesday by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

The WBCA will announce All-America honors later this month. Kelly earned WBCA All-America honorable mention last season.

Kelly was the leading scorer and Ustby the leading rebounder for the 2022-23 UNC women's basketball team, which finished the season on Monday with a 22-11 record. The Tar Heels reached the NCAA Tournament for the third year in a row, spanning the entire career so far of both Kelly and Ustby.

Both Kelly and Ustby also were named first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference this season. They are among 11 ACC players named to the 12-member WBCA Region 1 list.

Kelly finished the season averaging a team-high 16.5 points per game, sixth in the ACC. She also led UNC in assists (3.2 per game, 13th in the ACC) and minutes (35.5 per game, fifth in the ACC).

Ustby led Carolina in rebounding with 8.3 per game, fourth in the ACC. She ranked third in the ACC in field goal percentage (.506), ninth in blocks (1.1 per game) and 10th in steals (1.9), leading UNC in all of those categories.
