Baseball Treks To Atlanta For Series With Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. - No. 13 North Carolina reaches the final leg of its seven-game road trip this weekend in Atlanta for a three-game ACC Coastal Division series against Georgia Tech beginning Thursday at Russ Chandler Stadium with games following Friday and Saturday. All three games will be streamed on ACCNX.
Last season the Yellow Jackets took two of three from the Tar Heels at Boshamer Stadium, with UNC earning the win in the middle game of the series 10-5, collecting 17 hits. Johnny Castagnozzi and Hunter Stokely each recorded three hits in the win, while Vance Honeycutt and Mac Horvath went deep.
The Tar Heels have dropped each of their last three series against the Yellow Jackets and will be looking for their first series win in Atlanta since 2017. Georgia Tech leads the all-time series, 82-70

The Tar Heels are currently 2-2 on the road trip after opening with two wins against Notre Dame before falling to the Fighting Irish in the series finale and losing to South Carolina in Charlotte on Tuesday, 5-0.
It was shut out for the first time the Tar Heels had been shut out since losing at Liberty 1-0 on March 8, 2022.
Redshirt freshman Dalton Pence tossed four scoreless innings in his first start as Tar Heel and freshman Matthew Matthijs pitched a hitless fifth and sixth frame. The Tar Heels mustered a two-out hit in six consecutive innings, but never two consecutive hits to push a run across. The Gamecocks broke the scoreless tie with two runs in the seventh and added three more in the eighth.
Redshirt freshman Casey Cook extended his hitting streak to seven games on Tuesday and his on-base streak to 18. He's batting .481 (13-for-27) during his current streak hitting streak, collecting multiple hits in four games. Junior Colby Wilkerson has hit safely in 11 of the last 12 games.
