GREENWOOD, Ind. – Bri Stubbs and Destiny Middleton were each named to the CSC Academic All-District first team as announced Wednesday by the national office.
Stubbs, who started all 54 games, graduated with her degree in human development and family studies with a coaching education minor. The Canton, Ga., native has been Carolina's defensive anchor in the outfield for the past four seasons. In her final season, Stubbs batted .315, plating a team-best 36 runs with 52 hits, eight doubles, 19 RBIs, a home run and 10 stolen bases. In the outfield, she finished without an error in the outfield in ACC play for the second straight year, finishing with the third-highest fielding percentage in the league.
Middleton, who also started 54 games, received her undergraduate degree in human development and family studies with a minor in coaching education on Saturday. She will use her final year of eligibility with the Tar Heels next season as she pursues her master's degree. Middleton batted .241 with 39 hits, 16 RBIs, four doubles, 20 runs, 12 stolen bases and a team-best 20 walks.
Both Stubbs and Middleton are both eligible to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American in June.
