Backes Named ACC Pitcher Of The Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For the second week in a row, sophomore pitcher Lilli Backes has been named ACC Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Backes recorded back-to-back complete game victories at Georgia Tech over the weekend, including a 4-0 win in the series finale, her fourth ACC complete-game shutout of season.
In 16 innings of work on the week, the Peachtree City, native, allowed just three earned runs and three walks. She also combined for 15 strikeouts in two games against the Yellow Jackets, including eight in the series finale.
Backes has won eight straight conference games in a row and holds a 11-4 record in ACC play. She has a team-best 2.64 ERA on the season with 148 strikeouts.
The Tar Heels will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday when they host Furman in Anderson Stadium at 5 p.m.
