Two Tar Heels Named To USA U24 3x3 Team

Two Tar Heels have been named to the U.S. Under-24 team for the 2023 FIBA 3x3 Women's Series, announced on Thursday by USA Basketball. Rising senior Alyssa Ustby and graduate transfer Lexi Donarski are both part of the eight-player pool that will compete at select 3x3 Women's Series events this summer.
The athletes, chosen by the USA Basketball 3x3 Women's National Team Committee, have a combination of USA Basketball and collegiate experience.
In addition to Donarski and Ustby, members of the U.S. U24 squad are Cameron Brink, Madison Scott, Celeste Taylor, Hailey Van Lith, Kayla Wells and Maddy Westbeld.
Ustby represented the U.S. last summer in 3x3 play in the Dominican Republic and in Romania. Donarski is making her USA Basketball 3x3 debut.
Tammi Reiss will serve as the coach for the USA U24 team.

Different than 5-on-5, 3x3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams "clear" the ball behind the 2-point line following a made basket, defensive rebound or steal. The first team to score 21 points via 1-point field goals or 2-pointers behind the arc is victorious; or if time expires then the team leading wins.
