Volleyball Suffers Four-Set Loss At Michigan State

EAST LANSING, MI. – The Carolina volleyball team (4-3) fell in four sets to Michigan State on Sunday afternoon in the final match of the ACC-B10 Challenge.
Mabrey Shaffmaster (15) and Emani' Foster (10) both had double-digit kills in the loss, while Foster and Maddy May led the team at the service line with three aces apiece.
The Tar Heels had a season-low .110 hitting percentage, while the Spartans held a .257 hitting clip. Despite outblocking Michigan State, 7-6, the Tar Heels were aced 12 times, the most aces allowed by Carolina since March 27, 2021, vs. Florida State (12).
Michigan State Taylah Holdem led the match with 21 kills on a .341 hitting percentage, the second-most kills by any player this season against Carolina.
The Tar Heels will look to rebound when they return home to Carmichael Arena for four straight home matches, starting with Santa Clara on Sep. 15.
