Blue Takes A 3-2 Win In Tuesday's Scrimmage

Chapel Hill, NC -- The North Carolina Tar Heels started their first full week of Team Practice with a 6 1/2 inning scrimmage on Tuesday afternoon at sun-drenched Boshamer Stadium with the Blue squad taking a 3-2 win over Navy.
Navy took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on Casey Cook's sacrifice fly to center. Blue quickly tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning as Patrick Alvarez plated a run with an RBI-single to left.
Blue went ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the second on a Tyler Parks double down the left field line. Navy knotted the score at 2-2 on Reece Holbrook's solo home run to right. Parks would score the winning run in the bottom of the fifth by scoring from third on a throwing error.
Anthony Donofrio, who was the only player with multiple base hits, went 2-4 with a run scored. Holbrook's homer and Tyler Parks's double were the only extra base hits. Navy outhit Blue 5-3 but were hurt by three errors.
A total of 13 pitchers each threw one inning: Olin Johnson, Boston Flannery, Francesco Capocci, Dalton Pence, Matt Poston and Kyle Percival all threw for Navy, while Jake Knapp, Folger Boaz, Jason DeCaro, Mason Yokum, Ben Peterson, Shea Sprague and Aiden Haugh threw for Blue.
Peterson, Capocci and Pence each threw 1-2-3 innings. Peterson tossed just seven pitches with four being strikes. Capocci also threw just seven pitches, five of which were strikes. Ten of Pence's 13 pitches were strikes as he struck out two batters.Â
