CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—The University of North Carolina men's tennis team finished its action at the Tar Heel Invitational on Sunday and turns its eyes to the regular season, which begins later this week.

Carolina players went 0-6 on Sunday against players from Columbia. In a pair of singles matches between ranked opponents, Columbia's #24 Michael Zheng outlasted UNC's 50th-ranked Karl Poling in three sets 7-6, 2-6, 6-2.

The Lions' #106 Ishaan Ravichander beat Carolina's #83 Will Peters in straight sets 6-3, 7-5.

The weekend's competition, a final tune-up before the 2024 regular season, also included players from Boise State.

Carolina will begin its 2024 dual match season on Thursday January 18 in Chapel Hill against Campbell and NC Central. Next Sunday January 21, the Tar Heels will play Columbia at its home facility in New York, N.Y.
