For the second year in a row, North Carolina's Alyssa Ustby has been named to the Top 10 list for the Cheryl Miller Award, which goes to the nation's top small forward.
Â
The award is given by the Naismith Hall of Fame and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and honors Miller, the three-time Naismith Player of the Year and Class of 1995 Hall of Famer.
Â
Ustby, from Rochester, Minn., is averaging 12.6 points and 9.5 rebounds for the No. 20 Tar Heels, who host Miami Thursday night at 8 for an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup at Carmichael Arena. Â
Â
In conference games only, Ustby leads the ACC with 10.7 rebounds per game. She has four double-doubles in the team's seven league games so far, and earlier this season she registered the program's first triple-double with 16 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists against Syracuse on Jan. 4.
Â
Ustby was named to the Cheryl Miller Award preseason watch list for the third year in a row and is in the top 10 for the second consecutive year. She is one of two ACC players on the top-10 list, along with Louisville's Kiki Jefferson. For a look at the full list, click here.
