Tar Heels Scrimmage Florence-Darlington On Friday

Chapel Hill, NC--Â The North Carolina Tar Heels and the Florence-Darlngton Stingers held a pair of scrimmages on Friday evening at Boshamer Stadium on a perfect night for baseball. The Tar Heels won a nine-inning game one 11-1, then took an 11-3 win in a 4 1/2 inning game two.
Game 1 Recap:
Offensive Highlights:Â Tyson Bass was 4-4 with six RBI and three runs scored. Bass drilled a 427-foot homer to left center, then followed that with a 411-foot home run to left. Bass also had a triple and a single, just a double shy of hitting for the cycle. Kane Kepley, who was 1-2 at the plate and walked three times, ended up scoring all four times he reached base. Rom Kellis V had a 392-foot, three run homer. Hunter Stokely had a double for the other extra-base hit.
Pitching Highlights: Seven Tar Heel pitchers combined to hold the Stingers to just three base hits. Jason DeCaro, Kyle Percival, Walker McDuffie, Olin Johnson, Ryan Lynch, Matthew Matthijs and Cameron Padget all threw. DeCaro struck out three in 2.0 innings. McDuffie tossed a quick, 1-2-3 inning on just eight pitches. Lynch retired the side in order in his 1.0 inning while striking out two. Johnson struck out two in 2.0 hitless innings.

Offensive Highlights:Â The Tar Heels scored eleven runs on nine base hits and eight walks. Reece Holbrook was 2-2 with one RBI and two runs scored. Perry Hargett was 2-2 with one RBI and two runs scored. Sawyer Black's double was the only extra-base hit.
Pitching Highlights:Â Five Tar Heels threw: Cameron Padgett, Boston Flannery, Camron Seagraves, Andrew Wallen and Mason Yokum. Seagraves struck out all three batters he faced in his one inning on the mound. Flannery struck out two in his 2.0 innings.
The Tar Heels will hold the always-fun Fall World Series on Oct. 15, 16 and 18.
