Â
After trailing, 39-36, at halftime, the Tar Heels roared out of the locker room in the second half to outscore the Tigers, 36-19, in the first 12+ minutes after the break and take control of the game.
Â
Trimble hit 11 of 17 shots, including 3 of 5 from three-point range, and drained all eight of his free throw attempts in the best offensive performance of his career to date.
Â

Â
Playing without All-America guard RJ Davis after his injury in the Blue-White game on Saturday, Carolina also got six points and eight rebounds from Jae'Lyn Withers and six points and four boards from Ven-Allen Lubin.
Â
The exhibition game was part of a doubleheader with the Memphis and South Carolina women's teams with ticket sale proceeds going to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis.
Â
Trimble got off to a hot start and scored five of Carolina's first seven points of the game. Midway through the opening half, Memphis went on a 14-3 run to take a 24-14 lead, eventually leading by as many as 11 points before halftime.
Â
UNC hit 6 of its first 8 three-point tries in the second half to swing momentum and take the lead.
Â
The Tar Heels will return to action when they host Johnson C. Smith in the Smith Center on Sunday October 27 in their final exhibition tune-up prior to the November 4 season opener against Elon.
Â

Notes
• RJ Davis was not in uniform and did not play for precautionary reasons after suffering a lower back contusion in Saturday's Blue-White Scrimmage in Chapel Hill.
