Ustby Earns Spot On Naismith Trophy Watchlist

ATLANTA – The preseason acclaim for North Carolina's Alyssa Ustby continues, with the graduate student earning a spot on the 2024-25 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Watch List presented by Axia Time, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Monday.
Ustby enters year five in Chapel Hill coming off a senior campaign last year where she averaged 12.5 points per game and led the Tar Heels with 9.5 rebounds. The Minnesota native has left her mark all over the program, including recording UNC's first triple-double with 16 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists against Syracuse last season.
Most recently, Ustby was named to the Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference women's basketball team after earning second-team All-ACC honors last year. Ustby is one of eight from the ACC to earn a spot on the Naismith watchlist and 50 nationally.
The Tar Heels open the 2024-25 season a week from today, hosting Charleston Southern on Nov. 4 in UNC's annual field trip day at 11 a.m. CT from Carmichael Arena. The matinee tip against the Buccaneers can be streamed on ACCNX.
