LOS ANGELES – The acclaim for North Carolina's Alyssa Ustby rolls on, with the graduate student earning yet another early season honor with the fifth-year Tar Heel named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watchlist.
Selected by a preseason poll of collegiate basketball experts, the list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who are front-runners for the Wooden All-American Team and Most Outstanding Player Award.
Entering her fifth and final season in Chapel Hill, Ustby has already garnered Preseason All-ACC accolades, a spot on the Cheryl Miller Small Forward Award Preseason Watch List and tabbed to the Naismith Trophy Watchlist.
A Tar Heel record-breaker, Ustby owns the program's lone triple double where she tallied 16 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists against Syracuse last season. One of the top-rebounders in UNC history, Ustby cracked the program top-10 in the season opener against Charleston Southern, sitting at No. 10 with 965. She also currently ranks in the top-10 nationally in active career rebounds.
The list will be narrowed down throughout the season and members of the Wooden Award All-American Team will be announced the week of the Elite 8 during the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2025 John R. Wooden Award will be presented on April 11, 2025.
Carolina remains home for its second game of the season, hosting UNCW tonight from Carmichael Arena at 7 p.m. ET. The tilt against the Seahawks can be streamed on ACCNX.
