CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina men's soccer midfielder Sam Williams has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Second Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
The 2024 Academic All-America Men's Soccer Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. They must also have competed in 90 percent of their team's matches or started in at least two-thirds of all contests this season.
Williams, a junior midfielder for the Tar Heels, earned All-ACC honors for the third consecutive season in November.
The Tenafly, N.J. product started all 18 matches for the Tar Heels this fall, scoring four goals and dishing out two assists. Williams played the full 90 for Carolina in 14 matches this season, logging 1,591 minutes.
An economics major in the classroom, Williams is a two-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree during his time at Carolina.
