Gymnastics Hosts Pitt In Carmichael's First Ever Nationally Televised Meet

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina gymnastics' first ever nationally-televised meet held at Carmichael Arena will take place Friday night when the Tar Heels host Pitt at 7 p.m. ET for a big Atlantic Coast Conference showdown.
The meet will broadcast nationally on ACC Network with Alicia Sacramone Quinn, 11-time World Championship and Olympic medalist, and Alex Perlman on call.
Tickets are available for purchase here. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with introductions starting at 6:45 p.m.

Ten Things to Know
- 2024 marks UNC's first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The ACC previously sponsored a conference championship for gymnastics in 1984.
- Friday will be the first nationally-televised meet held at Carmichael Arena in program history. It will be UNC's third meet on ACC Network this season.
- Camryn Rueda was recently named UNC's first ACC Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 12 after setting a career-high 9.875 on floor at NC State.
- Not only was Rueda's 9.875 the highest score on floor among all conference freshmen in week six, it was the highest score recorded on any event by any ACC rookie.
- Lali Dekanoidze earned the ACC's first-ever ACC Gymnast of the Week honor on Jan. 9 after a career-high 9.925 on vault in the season opener.
- Dekanoidze's 9.925 on vault and 9.9 on bars are both tied for the second highest scores in the conference.
- Isabelle Schaefer became UNC's first-ever ACC Specialist of the Week on Jan. 15 after matching her career-high 9.925 on bars at the ESPN Collegiate Quad.
- Schaefer's 9.925 (done twice) is tied for the highest score on bars in the ACC so far this season heading into week seven.
- Taylor Schulze matched her career-high 9.9 on beam on Feb. 2, which is tied for the highest score on the event in the league thus far.
- In their first meeting with Pitt on Feb. 2, Julia Knower won the ninth all-around (39.15) title of her career. Dekanoidze tied for first on bars (9.825) while Schulze was the outright winner on beam (9.9).
