Women’s Lacrosse Can’t Overcome Boston College, Falls 18-12

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The 13th-ranked North Carolina women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-12 decision to No. 4 Boston College on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. 
Following the loss, the Tar Heels fall to 7-5 (3-3 ACC) on the year while the Eagles move to 10-2 (5-1 ACC).

How It Happened
- Alyssa Long struck first and Darcy Felter added a pair in a three-minute span to put Carolina up 3-1 with six minutes left in the opening frame.
- The Eagles ended the first quarter with three unanswered goals, turning their two-goal deficit into a one-goal lead after 15 minutes of play.
- Caroline Godine, who snapped the Eagles' six-goal scoring streak and ended an 11-minute scoring drought for the Tar Heels, cut UNC's deficit to three.
- Despite having a 10-5 advantage on the draw, Carolina trailed, 8-5, heading into the break.
- Long made it a hat trick to start second-half scoring before Godine got Carolina within one just over three minutes into the third.
- The Eagles responded with four more goals. Felter got a hat trick to end their scoring run but the home team held a 13-9 lead after 45 minutes.
- BC tacked on four more to begin the final quarter. UNC scored three of the game's last four goals, but could not overcome the lead the Eagles had built.

- Dominating the draw, UNC finished with 22 to BC's 11. GraceAnn Leonard had a game-high eight and Bailey Horne had six.
- Felter had a team-high four goals, matching her career high for the second time this season.
- The Tar Heels had 10 ground balls to the Eagles' nine as Emily Nalls' three were the most among all players.
- Nalls had two of UNC's four caused turnovers. BC concluded the game with three.
- Carolina's defense held Rachel Clark, the ACC's leading goal scorer, to only one goal and two shots.
- Stella Harrison made five saves between the pipes in her first career start.

- Felter matched her career-high four goals, which she had first done earlier this year against Liberty on Feb. 13.
- Long's hat trick marked the fifth of her career and fourth this season.
- Nalls recorded her 150th ground ball during the contest.
- With one assist today, Caitlyn Wurzburger has recorded at least one point in 69 of her 75 career appearances. She has earned at least one point in every game since April 21, 2022 (39 straight games).
- Wurzburger is now eight points away from tying Marie McCool for fifth on UNC's all-time points leaderboard.
- Ashley Humphrey has recorded at least one point in 47 of her 49 career appearances after today's two-point effort.
- The Tar Heels have scored double-figure goals 85 times in their last 92 games.
