Ustby Among Top 5 Finalists For Cheryl Miller Award

North Carolina senior Alyssa Ustby has been named one of five finalists for the 2024 Cheryl Miller Award as the nation's top small forward. The list, announced on Wednesday by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, also includes LSU's Aneesah Morrow, Ohio State's Cotie McMahon, Tennessee's Rickea Jackson and Texas' Madison Booker.

Ustby, who received All-Atlantic Coast Conference second team honors on Tuesday, is in her third year as a candidate for the Cheryl Miller Award and has been in the top 10 in each of the past two years. This is her first appearance among the top five.

A team captain from Rochester, Minn., Ustby is one of four players who averaged a double-double (12.4 ppg, 10.0 rpg) in ACC play. Overall, she ranks in the ACC's top 10 in rebounding (4th, 9.5), field goal percentage (6th, .47.7), blocks (9th, 1.33), steals (T10, 1.77) and assists (10th, 3.6).

Ustby and the Tar Heels open ACC Tournament play on Thursday with a second-round matchup against Miami. Tipoff in Greensboro, N.C., is 1:30 p.m.
