Pro Heels: NWSL Week 18 Roundup

The 2024 National Women's Soccer League season was back in action with all 14 teams competing in the inaugural NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup. The NWSL regular season will resume on August 23 as the league pauses for the international break.
The weekend was highlighted by Ally Sentnor scoring her fifth professional goal with Utah Royals and Dorian Bailey scoring her third of the year for Bay FC.
Bay FC

Bay FC concluded its NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup run despite a 2-1 win over Club America. Bailey scored in the 53rd minute after she found the back of the net at the goal line off a header after a corner kick. It was her third goal across all competitions.
Bailey was part of the Starting XI and logged a full game. King subbed in during the 69th minute. Allen was available as a sub but was not used.
NJ/NY Gotham FC

Gotham FC beat Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil, 3-0, in the group stage finale of the NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup. Gotham clinched Group D to advance to the semifinals. Bell started the match and logged a full game.Â
Dunn is currently on international duty and is representing the United States in her third Olympic Games in France. Team USA will play in the Olympic semifinal on August 6.Â

Utah Royals hammered home a dominant 5-1 win over Club Tijuana in the group stage finale of the inaugural NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup. With back-to-back wins, the club won Group A with six points.
Sentnor, who played every minute of the contest, picked up a goal and an assist. Her goal came in the 48th minute when she unleashed her signature left-footed rocket into the bottom right corner. She assisted Paige Monaghan's goal in the 20th minute after taking a single touch to lay the ball for her teammate.
Sentnor, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft, is in contention for NWSL Rookie of the Year. She leads the Utah Royals with five goals this year.Â
