Pitching Dominates Friday's Scrimmage

Chapel Hill, NC--Â The Blue squad scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 2-1 win over Navy in a seven-inning scrimmage on Friday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. The Blue squad scored two runs on just three base hits, while Navy stroked seven hits. There were no errors in the scrimmage.
Offensive Highlights:Â Luke Stevenson was the only player with multiple base hits. Stevenson was 2-4 with both hits being doubles. Alex Madera and Perry Hargett both had doubles. Macaddin Dye and Parker McCoy had the two Blue RBI. Hunter Stokely drove in Navy's only run.
Pitching Highlights:Â Jason DeCaro, Ryan Lynch and Matthew Matthijs threw for Blue, with Folger Boaz, Camron Seagraves and Cale Bolton pitching for Navy.
DeCaro gave up no runs on four hits in in 3.1 innings, striking out four and walking none. Boaz tossed 4.0 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and fanning one. Seagraves threw 1.0 scoreless innings, striking out two. Matthijs retired the side in order in his only innng pitched.Â
Defensive Highlights:Â Rom Kellis may a great, sliding catch in left. With a man on first, Folger Boaz caught a wicked line shot and turned a 1-3 DP.
The Tar Heels will next scrimmage on Saturday afternoon.
