Rennard Splits Qualifying Singles Matches At ITA Regionals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association opened the qualifying round of Regionals Thursday at Chewning Tennis Center. Mary Grace Rennard was the only Tar Heel to compete on day one of the ITA Regionals. The sophomore went 1-1 after starting with a dominant win in the round of 64 before falling in the round of 32 later in the afternoon.Â

Duo Oby Kajuru/Susanna Maltby are set to compete first at 9 a.m. with pairs Theadora Rabman/Tatum Evans and Mary Grace Rennard/Alana Boyce to follow. Alanis Hamilton will get the Tar Heels' singles started at 12 p.m. with Claire Hill, Rabman, Boyce, and Kajuru to follow.

ITA Regionals
University of North Carolina women's tennis is set to host the Carolina region of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships from Oct. 16-21. The Tar Heels will welcome athletes from over 20 universities to compete at the Chewning Tennis Center this weekend.

ITA Regionals will take place at 13 different regions/sites across the country. Regionals is also an opportunity for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Doubles and Singles Championships. This tournament will qualify the two singles finalists from each region while only the doubles champion at each site will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
