Nivar Named ACC Player Of The Week Following Historic Stretch

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After dominating throughout three games for North Carolina women's basketball at the 2025 Cancun Challenge over Thanksgiving, Indya Nivar has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week.
Posting the second triple double in program history, Nivar tallied 13 points, grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds and snagged 10 steals against South Dakota State. Nivar joins former teammate Alyssa Ustby as one of two Tar Heels to achieve the feat.
Nivar's 10 steals against the Jackrabbits also matched the program single-game record set by Pam Leake in 1985.
Against Kansas State, Nivar matched a season-high with 14 points and dished out a career-high seven assists. Her assists were the most in a single game by a Tar Heel this season.
Wrapping up her time in Cancun against Columbia, Nivar stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals.
Her efficient performance throughout the three games in three days earned Nivar the 2025 Cancun Challenge MVP honors. Overall, Nivar averaged 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6.7 steals and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 53.6% from the floor.
This marks the seventh time a Tar Heel has earned ACC Player of the Week honors under Courtney Banghart. Nivar joins Reniya Kelly as one of two active Carolina players to have earned the distinction.
Nivar and Carolina return to action on Thursday, traveling to Austin for the ACC/SEC Challenge. The Tar Heels go head-to-head against No. 2 Texas at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
